Nigeria’s U-20 women’s national team, the Falconets, on Friday defeated their Polish counterparts 1-0 in a friendly match at the Municipal Stadium in Brzeg, Poland, as part of their final preparations for this year’s FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup.
Mary Mamudu scored the only goal of the match in first-half stoppage time as the team, coached by Moses Aduku, secured a morale-boosting victory ahead of their opening match against Spain on Monday, September 7.
The two-time World Cup runners-up will play their second and final friendly against the Republic of Korea at the Remes Sports Leisure and Spa Stadium on Tuesday, September 1.
The Falconets will face Spain on September 7 before taking on China on September 10 and New Caledonia on September 13 in the group stage of the tournament.
