The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has named Nigeria among 44 countries set to compete in the qualifying campaign for the 2027 Africa U-23 Cup of Nations.
Nigeria’s U-23 team will battle alongside Algeria, Angola, Ghana, Egypt, Morocco, Senegal, South Africa, Zambia and other nations for places at the tournament.
The competition also serves as Africa’s qualifying pathway to the Olympic Games football tournament.
Egypt will host the 2027 U-23 Africa Cup of Nations, with participating teams required to navigate the qualifying rounds to secure a place in the final tournament.
CAF is expected to conduct the qualifying draw, which will determine the fixtures and route to the finals.
Other participating countries include Cameroon, Côte d’Ivoire, DR Congo, Guinea, Kenya, Mali, Tunisia, Uganda, Tanzania and Zimbabwe.
Nigeria will be aiming to secure qualification for the finals and continue its strong tradition in Olympic football.
