The Super Eagles goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali marked his return to the Betway Premiership in impressive fashion, claiming the Man of the Match award in Chippa United’s league-opening clash against Golden Arrows.
Nwabali delivered a commanding performance, playing the full 90 minutes and making six crucial saves, including four from inside the penalty area, while also recording 12 recoveries.
The match was Nwabali’s first competitive appearance since February after he left Chippa United by mutual consent and spent several months without a club. He rejoined the South African side ahead of the new season and immediately reclaimed his place between the posts.
Nigeria’s first-choice goalkeeper, who rose to prominence during the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations, was one of Chippa United’s standout performers as they began their league campaign.
His six-save display, highlighted by four stops from inside the box, proved decisive and earned him the Man of the Match award in a memorable return to competitive football.
