Nigeria’s U-20 national team, the Flying Eagles, will begin the defence of their WAFU B U-20 Championship title against Ghana’s Black Satellites on July 27 at the Lycée Scientifique de Yamoussoukro in Côte d’Ivoire.
The opening fixture is a repeat of the 2024 final in Lomé, where the Flying Eagles defeated the Black Satellites 2-1 to lift the trophy. The match is scheduled to kick off at 2:00 p.m. local time (3:00 p.m. Nigeria time).
The seven-time African champions will return to action on July 30 when they face Togo’s Junior Sparrow Hawks at the same venue. The encounter will also kick off at 2:00 p.m. local time (3:00 p.m. Nigeria time).
Nigeria will conclude their Group B campaign against Burkina Faso’s Young Stallions on August 2, with the match again taking place at the Lycée Scientifique de Yamoussoukro at 2:00 p.m. local time (3:00 p.m. Nigeria time).
The team, led by head coach Abdu Maikaba, is expected to depart Nigeria on Monday after completing several weeks of intensive training and screening in Abuja.
