LASHMA Bags 2026 Healthcare Excellence Award

 

The Lagos State Health Management Agency (LASHMA) has been named the State Government Health Insurance of the Year at the 2026 Nigerian Healthcare Excellence Awards (NHEA) for its contribution to health insurance service delivery in Nigeria.

At the ceremony held in Lagos, NHEA Advisory Board Chairman Dr. Anthony Omolola said the awards, established in 2014, recognise excellence in Nigeria’s healthcare sector. He noted that the 12th edition, themed Innovation, Local Manufacturing and Digital Transformation in Healthcare,” honoured individuals and organisations driving progress despite challenges.

Dr. Omolola said nominations were based on research, public voting, and independent evaluation, and encouraged all nominees to keep striving for excellence.

Presenting the award to LASHMA’s Permanent Secretary, Dr. Emmanuella Zamba, the former Lagos State Ministry of Health Permanent Secretary Dr. Femi Olugbile congratulated the agency for emerging winner from five nominees.

He urged LASHMA to sustain its innovations and expand access to affordable, quality, and equitable healthcare in support of Universal Health Coverage (UHC).

In her remarks, Dr. Zamba thanked the organisers, Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, Deputy Governor Dr. Kadri Obafemi Hamzat, lawmakers, local government chairmen, partners, philanthropists, and Lagos residents for their support.

She pledged that LASHMA would continue working to ensure all residents have access to affordable, quality, and equitable healthcare.

LASHMA previously won the award in 2023, shared it with Katsina State in 2025, and has now reclaimed it in 2026.
