Inspector-General of Police Olatunji Disu has approved the appointment of CSP Anietie Okokon Edem Iniedu as the new Force Public Relations Officer of the Nigeria Police Force.
The appointment comes barely three months after his predecessor, DCP Anthony Okon Placid, took over the role on March 8, 2026.
Iniedu takes over from Placid.
Placid announced the change in a statement on Friday and described Iniedu as a seasoned officer with extensive experience in public communication, operational policing, intelligence management, institutional accountability and administration.
Iniedu, a native of Etinan Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State, holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Pure Chemistry from the University of Uyo.
Before the appointment, he served as Head of the Complaint Response Unit at Force Headquarters, Abuja, where he coordinated public complaint management and championed initiatives to strengthen transparency, accountability, and public trust.
He also served as Public Relations Officer of the Police College of Information Technology, Kobape, Ogun State.
His other postings include Operations Officer at Maisandari Division, Yobe State Command; Area Crime Officer, Umuahia Area Command, Abia State; Staff Officer at the IGP Secretariat, Force Headquarters; Second-in-Command, 50 Police Mobile Force Squadron, Kubwa; and Officer-in-Charge of the Force Headquarters Situation Room, where he supervised coordination and dissemination of crime and security information nationwide.
The IG expressed confidence in Iniedu’s capacity to lead the Force Public Relations Department, saying his experience would enhance strategic communication and strengthen public engagement in support of ongoing policing reforms.
