Tinubu Sacks Edun, Dangiwa From FEC

 

….Elevates Oyedele as Finance Minister

President Bola Tinubu has approved a minor cabinet reshuffle, relieving Mr. Wale Edun and Arc. Ahmed Musa Dangiwa of their appointments as members of the Federal Executive Council (FEC).

The development was announced in a memo signed by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Senator George Akume.

Mr. Edun, who served as Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, has been directed to hand over to Mr. Taiwo Oyedele, who has been elevated to the position of Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy. Oyedele previously served as Minister of State in the ministry.

Also, Mr. Muttaqha Rabe Darma (PhD) has been named ministerial nominee and minister-designate for the Ministry of Housing and Urban Development following the exit of Arc. Dangiwa.

The memo further directed Dangiwa to hand over to the Minister of State in the ministry pending the confirmation of his successor.

According to the memo, “all handing over and taking over processes should be completed on or before close of business on Thursday 23rd April, 2026.”

Explaining the President’s decision, Akume said: “These changes are aimed at strengthening cohesion, synergy in governance as well as achieving more impactful delivery on the economy to Nigerians, through the Renewed Hope Agenda.”

He added that President Tinubu, in approving the cabinet reshuffle, had fully exercised his powers under Sections 147 and 148 of the 1999 Constitution (as amended).

The President also thanked the outgoing ministers for their services to the nation and wished them success in their future endeavours.

Akume further noted that Tinubu assured cabinet members that “the process of reinvigoration shall be continuous.”
