2027: Lagos APC Faults Momodu’s Prediction, Says Tinubu Remains Strong Ahead Of Poll
The Lagos State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has dismissed comments by media entrepreneur Dele Momodu predicting defeat for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the 2027 presidential election, describing the remarks as speculative and disconnected from political realities.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, the party’s spokesperson, Seye Oladejo, said there was no credible basis for the claim that Tinubu could lose if former Vice President Atiku Abubakar contests alongside either Peter Obi or Rotimi Amaechi.
Oladejo argued that the projections were premature and unsupported by developments within the country’s political landscape, insisting that emerging alignments ahead of the next general election favour Tinubu’s re-election bid.
The APC spokesman further claimed that several opposition figures being touted as potential challengers were grappling with internal crises and lack of cohesion within their respective political bases. According to him, such challenges undermine the likelihood of any serious electoral upset in 2027.
He maintained that the Tinubu administration remains focused on implementing reforms aimed at economic stabilisation, improved security, and long-term national development under its Renewed Hope Agenda. He added that ongoing policies are addressing structural challenges while positioning the country for sustained growth.
Oladejo also criticised the opposition for what he described as “grandstanding and media conjecture,” saying they must demonstrate greater seriousness and unity to gain the confidence of Nigerian voters.
He urged political actors and commentators to prioritise constructive contributions to national development rather than engaging in what he termed premature election speculation.
Reaffirming the party’s stance, the Lagos APC expressed confidence that Nigerians would continue to support Tinubu as his administration consolidates ongoing reforms and builds on progress recorded across key sectors.
