Ondo State Governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to ensuring regular promotions, timely salary payments and the elevation of deserving officers to the rank of Permanent Secretary, noting that these measures are essential to boosting morale and enhancing productivity in the state’s workforce.
Aiyedatiwa made the pledge on Thursday while addressing workers during the 2025 Public Service Week celebration in Akure.
Speaking on the theme, “Rejuvenating Public Service for Effective Service Delivery,” the governor commended public servants for their dedication and commitment to duty, describing them as the backbone of governance and development. He said the celebration provided an opportunity to reflect on the past, reconnect with purpose and reimagine the future of the state’s public service.
“The machinery of government must be agile, innovative and responsive. This requires a conscious rejuvenation that breathes new life into our bureaucracy and rekindles the spirit of patriotism that defines the Ondo State Public Service,” Aiyedatiwa said.
He emphasised the pivotal role of the public service in his administration’s achievements, stressing that workers are partners in progress rather than subordinates. He assured that his government would continue to invest in workers’ welfare, capacity building and timely promotions.
In his remarks, the State Head of Service, Mr. Bayo Philip, urged public servants to stay effective and committed, encouraging them to shift “from routine to results, from process to performance, and from excuses to excellence.”
The event also featured a lecture delivered by a former Ekiti State Head of Service, Olugbenga Faseluka, alongside a panel session where retired Heads of Service and Permanent Secretaries shared their experiences to inspire serving officers.
