Oluremi Tinubu Partners NITDA To Empower Women In ICT, Promote Access To Healthcare
As part of the Federal Government’s efforts to promote gender equality and harness the potential of Nigerian women, the First Lady of Nigeria, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, through the Renewed Hope Initiative (RHI), has partnered with the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) to empower women through ICT training and provide access to quality, affordable healthcare services across the country.
This was disclosed by the Ondo State First Lady, Mrs. Oluwaseun Aiyedatiwa, who represented Senator Tinubu during the national launch of the Renewed Hope Initiative Women ICT Training and Empowerment Programme 2025 held in Akure.
Mrs. Aiyedatiwa, represented by the Wife of the Akure South Local Government Chairman, Mrs. Bosede Fasua, said the initiative underscores the importance of digital literacy in Nigeria’s socio-economic development. She noted that ICT skills are essential for Nigerian women to remain competitive in an increasingly technology-driven global economy.
She explained that the training programme, which will be implemented in six states—Bauchi, Kaduna, Nasarawa, Imo, Edo, Ondo—and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), aims to empower a total of 320 women nationwide. Each zone will train 40 women, while another 40 participants will be drawn from the FCT and other key stakeholder groups.
The Ondo First Lady commended the Director-General of NITDA, Mr. Kashifu Inuwa, and his team for their commitment to advancing digital development across Nigeria in alignment with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, which seeks to drive economic diversification through industrialization and digital transformation.
In his remarks, NITDA’s Director-General, Mr. Kashifu Inuwa, represented by Mr. Siyaka Etudaye, reaffirmed the agency’s mission to transform Nigeria into a sustainable digital economy powered by technology and innovation.
He emphasized the pivotal role of women as leaders, innovators, and change agents in their families, communities, and the nation, while commending both the First Lady of Nigeria and the Ondo State First Lady for their dedication to women’s empowerment and digital inclusion.
