Edo First Lady Champions Youth Empowerment, Innovation Through Vocational Skills
The Edo State Government through the Office of the First Lady, has reiterated its commitment to fostering initiatives that drive innovation and transformation in empowering youth and residents with essential skills, which are required for success in a rapidly evolving world.
The Coordinator, Office of the Edo State First Lady, Mrs. Edesili Okpebholo Anani confirmed this at a sensitization programme organized by the Edo State Board for Technical and Vocational Education (BTVE), in collaboration with the Richard George Foundation and the Voice Aid Association. She emphasized that the project aligns with the State Government’s vision for a prosperous, inclusive, and equitable society.
According to Mrs. Anani, “This initiative is in perfect alignment with the vision of the government, to create a more prosperous, inclusive and equitable society. This project will equip our youth and citizens with the skills and knowledge they need to thrive in today’s fast-changing world”
She added that the gathering would kindle empowerment, sustainability and global cooperation. She also noted that the three transformative initiatives; the Green Nursing Programme, the Internship Programme and the Women in Business Initiative. Each of these is designed to build capacity, inspire innovation and open pathways to new opportunities”.
Mrs. Anani further stated that the collaboration with the Richard George Foundation and the Voice Aid, reflects a shared commitment to empowering people, strengthening communities and creating a sustainable future through meaningful partnerships and innovation.
The Executive Chairman of BTVE, Barr. Onomen Briggs, appreciated Sen. Okpebholo for his leadership and commitment to Technical, Vocational Education and Training (TVET), and appreciated the Richard George Foundation for partnering with the Technical College to empower 120 students through a ‘Waste-to-Wealth’ project, which is aimed at fostering sustainability and entrepreneurship. She noted that their projects demonstrate students’ ingenuity and potentials, combining sustainability and innovation for future opportunities. She commended the Foundation’s commitment to empowering students through such initiatives.
The Founder of Richard George Foundation, Mr. Richard George, in his remark, appreciated the participants, while buttressing Mrs Anani’s statement.
