Ondo State Governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to the welfare of retired Heads of Service and Permanent Secretaries, describing them as senior citizens whose sacrifices laid the foundation for the state’s development.
Receiving members of the Association of Retired Heads of Service and Permanent Secretaries at his office in Akure on Tuesday, the governor said his administration holds them in high esteem, noting that their wealth of knowledge and experience remains invaluable to governance.
Aiyedatiwa commended the association for establishing a Development Initiative Committee, promising that any recommendations aligning with the state’s developmental agenda would be considered for implementation.
On their concerns over pensions and entitlements, the governor acknowledged the need for harmonization and upward review to reflect current realities. He assured that government would examine their requests in line with available resources.
Addressing issues surrounding the association’s secretariat in Alagbaka, Akure, Aiyedatiwa pledged that the newly constructed building would not be affected by the planned facelift of the state capital. He also hinted that the long-awaited constitution of the Teaching Service Commission (TESCOM) board would be concluded soon.
Earlier, the association’s president, Mrs. Grace Ajayi, thanked the governor for appointing some of their members into political positions, including as chairman and members of the Civil Service Commission. She pledged the group’s continued partnership with government by offering professional insights to strengthen policymaking and governance.
The association recalled its past contributions to issues such as security, environmental management, and housing development, noting that a recent committee had submitted recommendations on boosting the state’s investment portfolio.
The group further commended Aiyedatiwa’s developmental strides under the “OUR EASE” agenda, particularly the reduction of government debts and the timely payment of workers’ salaries, pensions and gratuities.
