Ebonyi Governor Charges FG Law Reform Committee On Protection Of Citizen Dignity, Encourage Innovation
The governor of Ebonyi State, Francis Nwifuru has called on the Committee for the review of the laws of the Federation to create a body of laws that will protect the dignity of every citizen, encourage innovation, and secure the foundations of justice in Nigeria.
Nwifuru made the call in a message to the 3rd Retreat of the Committee in Abakaliki, Ebonyi State.
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu approved the inauguration of the Committee with a clear directive to review all existing laws, consolidate them, and remove obsolete provisions that no longer serve the people.
Nwifuru stated that when laws are clear, modern and just, the country will make more progress, adding “The laws you review and revise will shape the destiny of generations yet unborn. You are building a legal framework that must empower citizens, protect freedoms, foster economic growth, and guarantee fairness to all.”
The governor noted that his administration has been intentional in aligning its reforms with national and global standards.
“By choosing Ebonyi as the venue for this retreat, the Ministry has affirmed that our State is not only part of the national conversation but also a partner in shaping the future of justice in Nigeria”, said Nwifuru.
He urged participants to deliberate with foresight, courage, inclusivity and allow their debates to rise above technicalities.
The retreat was attended by the Attorney General of the Federation Princess Lateef Fagbemi SAN as well as Body of States Attorneys General led by the Attorney General of Ebonyi State, Dr. Ben Odoh.
