APC’s Digital Membership Exercise Deepens Internal Democracy, Boosts Grassroots Base- Oladejo
The Lagos State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has described the successful conduct of its electronic registration exercise as a landmark achievement in strengthening internal democracy, party cohesion and grassroots participation ahead of the next general elections.
In a statement issued on Monday, the Lagos APC Spokesman, Seye Oladejo, said the overwhelming turnout and seamless adoption of the digital platform demonstrated growing confidence in the party’s progressive ideals among Lagosians and Nigerians at large.
Oladejo noted that the exercise not only expanded the party’s membership base but also produced a transparent, credible and verifiable database reflecting the APC’s strength across wards, local governments and constituencies.
According to him, the initiative further deepened internal democracy by providing a level playing field for both existing and new members to formally register, thereby qualifying them to vote and be voted for in line with the party’s constitution.
He described the requirement for a valid Permanent Voter Card (PVC) and National Identification Number (NIN) as prerequisites for registration as a “master-stroke,” saying the measure helped to eliminate ghost members and safeguarded the credibility of the membership register.
Oladejo disclosed that over 10 million members were registered nationwide, describing the figure as evidence of the APC’s deep-rooted structures and formidable presence across the country.
He added that the unprecedented number gives the ruling party a strategic advantage as the nation approaches the next elections, underscoring its readiness and capacity for mass mobilisation.
The Lagos APC commended party leaders, officials and volunteers for their dedication throughout the exercise and reaffirmed its commitment to unity, internal democracy, good governance and the delivery of democratic dividends in line with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
