Agbado Oke-Odo LCDA Targets Healthcare, Education, Roads with ₦7.87bn 2026 Budget
The Agbado Oke-Odo Local Council Development Area (LCDA) in Lagos State, has proposed a total budget of ₦7.87 billion for the 2026 fiscal year, signalling a strong commitment to infrastructure development, social advancement and improved service delivery across the council.
The proposed budget, tagged “Budget of Progress and Sustainability,” was presented by the Chairman, Mr. Abiodun Isola, to the Legislative Council during a plenary session at the council chamber on Friday. Isola described the financial plan as a landmark document, noting that it is the first budget of his administration since assuming office.
According to the proposal, the total estimated expenditure for 2026 stands at ₦7,865,866,100.49. The budget is expected to be funded through statutory allocations, Value Added Tax (VAT) proceeds, internally generated revenue (IGR) and other coordinated revenue sources.
The bulk of the projected revenue, amounting to ₦5.90 billion, is expected from VAT, while ₦1.51 billion is projected from federal statutory allocations. Additional inflows will come from FAAC-related receipts, state-coordinated revenue and internally generated revenue estimated at over ₦232 million.
On the expenditure side, the council plans to invest heavily in development projects, with over ₦3.36 billion earmarked for capital and other developmental initiatives. Personnel costs are projected at ₦1.41 billion, while overhead expenses are estimated at approximately ₦2.95 billion. A sum of ₦150 million has also been allocated for social services to address welfare needs within the community.
Isola said the 2026 budget is designed to strengthen primary healthcare delivery, improve the quality of education, enhance security of lives and property, and accelerate road construction and rehabilitation to support economic activities across the LCDA.
He added that provisions have also been made for youth and women empowerment through entrepreneurship support programmes and targeted social interventions.
Describing the budget as a reflection of his administration’s commitment to responsible, accountable and compassionate governance, Isola assured residents that development would be inclusive and reach all segments of the community.
He urged members of the Legislative Council to give the proposal prompt and constructive consideration to enable timely implementation in the interest of residents of Agbado Oke-Odo LCDA.
Receiving the budget, the Leader of the Legislative House, Hon. Wasiu Giwa Aduragbemi, assured the chairman of accelerated deliberations and passage, pledging the full support and cooperation of the legislative arm for the successful implementation of the 2026 budget.
