NITDA, CAC Strengthen Partnership To Boost Nigeria’s Digital Business Environment
The Director-General of the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA), Kashifu Inuwa, has pledged the agency’s full support for the Corporate Affairs Commission’s (CAC) artificial intelligence-driven transformation as the commission marked its 35th anniversary in Abuja.
Delivering a goodwill message at the celebration held at the Ladi Kwali Hall of the Abuja Continental Hotel, Inuwa commended the CAC for its consistency and resilience, noting that while many organisations decline after early success, the commission has sustained steady growth.
“Organisations go up and come down, but some keep thriving, thriving and thriving. Today, that is what we are witnessing with CAC,” he said.
Reflecting on his early engagement with the commission, Inuwa recalled that the Registrar-General prioritised organisational transformation from the outset, particularly through digital innovation.
He stressed that the current era demands more than basic digitisation, adding that meaningful transformation can only be achieved by integrating artificial intelligence into core operations. “We are in the AI era, and the only way to truly transform is to embrace and integrate AI into your operations. This is exactly what the Registrar-General is doing,” he stated.
The NITDA boss assured the CAC of the agency’s commitment to embedding AI across its processes, explaining that the technology would infuse intelligence into workflows, simplify company registration and business management, and strengthen cybersecurity. He added that advanced AI tools would help staff stay ahead of fraudsters, prevent hacking and fraudulent alterations of company records, and ensure responsible deployment with appropriate safeguards.
Inuwa noted that the CAC’s digital reforms have significantly reduced company registration timelines from several months to as little as 24 hours. He added that deeper AI integration would further enhance name search and reservation, automate filings, improve corporate governance and curb fraud.
He also highlighted NITDA’s ongoing role in reviewing the CAC’s digital and AI transformation roadmaps, providing standards, guidelines, training and safeguards to ensure secure and people-centred digital services. Inuwa congratulated the CAC management, staff and the National Assembly for their support, expressing confidence that the partnership would further strengthen Nigeria’s digital business environment.
