The Alimosho Local Government has commenced monthly engagements with members of its newly established Alimosho Security Network (ASN) as part of efforts to strengthen community security, protect public assets and maintain law and order across the council area.
The Chairman of the council, Hon. Akinpelu Ibrahim Johnson, gave the charge at the network’s inaugural meeting, urging members to remain vigilant, disciplined and professional in the discharge of their responsibilities.
The ASN was established to complement the efforts of existing security agencies by monitoring activities within communities and providing timely information to the police and other relevant authorities.
Members are also expected to report activities that could threaten public safety, environmental cleanliness or government property, including indiscriminate dumping of refuse in public spaces.
Johnson assured members of the council’s continued support through the provision of resources, training and improved remuneration, promising that diligent officers would be considered for promotion.
He stressed that the success of the initiative would depend on members’ commitment and their ability to work closely with residents and established security agencies.
Responding, members of the ASN described the initiative as both a community responsibility and an employment opportunity, pledging to support efforts to maintain peace, protect public infrastructure and promote a safer Alimosho.
The council said the network would sustain engagements with communities and security stakeholders to strengthen a responsive, community-based security system.
