Brentford Punish Chelsea To Seal 3-0 Win

Igor Thiago scored his first Premier League goal of the season as unbeaten Brentford struck three times in the second half to beat west London neighbours Chelsea 3-0.

Jaidon Anthony opened the scoring in the 61st minute, heading home from close range after Jannik Schuster nodded a deep corner back across goal.

Chelsea pushed for an equaliser but struggled to create clear chances despite dominating possession.

Brentford punished them on the counter seven minutes from time when Kevin Schade raced through on goal. His effort was saved by Emi Martinez, but Thiago followed up to score into an empty net.

Fabio Carvalho added a third in stoppage time, finishing at the back post from Schade’s deflected cross to seal the points and lift Brentford to third.

Chelsea have now gone three league games without a win, losing two, and failed to score for the first time under Xabi Alonso.

The Blues had shaded a subdued first half, with Pedro Neto and Morgan Rogers coming closest to breaking the deadlock, but Brentford grew into the game after the interval and took control.
