…backs campaign against gender violence
….canvasses respect, peaceful conflict resolution
The Lagos State Audit Service Commission (LASAC) has joined the campaign against Sexual and Gender-Based Violence (SGBV), urging its staff to promote mutual respect, self-restraint and peaceful conflict resolution in the workplace and society.
The Permanent Secretary of the Commission, Mrs Oluwakemi Amudat Garbadeen-Adedeji, gave the charge on Wednesday, September 2, 2026, as the Commission joined the Lagos State Domestic and Sexual Violence Agency and other stakeholders to mark the “Stand Against Sexual and Gender-Based Violence Day.”
The event, themed “SGBV: It Ends With Us,” was aimed at raising awareness and encouraging collective action to prevent sexual and gender-based violence.
Addressing staff, Garbadeen-Adedeji condemned all forms of violence and urged workers to avoid behaviours and situations that could escalate into abuse, while embracing dialogue and peaceful means of resolving disagreements.
She stressed that SGBV should not be regarded solely as a women’s issue, noting that men can also be victims, although women remain disproportionately affected.
The Permanent Secretary further advised staff to exercise caution and, where necessary, walk away from situations that could potentially lead to violence, particularly in intimate relationships.
Garbadeen-Adedeji reaffirmed the Commission’s commitment to supporting initiatives aimed at combating SGBV and promoting a safe, respectful and violence-free environment for its staff and the wider society.
