Tinubu Orders Arrest Of Nwabueze Over Fake Agency, Suspends 3 Permanent Secretaries
President Bola Tinubu has ordered the immediate arrest of Prince George Buchi Nwabueze over his alleged involvement in operating a fake government agency, while directing the suspension of three permanent secretaries linked to the case.
The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) Chairman, Musa Aliyu, disclosed the President’s directives on Friday while briefing State House correspondents after meeting with Tinubu at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.
Aliyu said the commission uncovered a purported agency operating under the name “National Brands Development and Made in Nigeria Special Project Office”.
The office had allegedly been allocated space within the premises of the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (OSGF), despite not being a legitimate government agency.
The permanent secretaries ordered suspended are M.S. Danjuma, Engineer Nadungu Gagare and Richard P. Pheelangwah.
“I have briefed Mr. President comprehensively on these new developments. ICPC will continue with its investigations,” Aliyu said.
“Accordingly, Mr. President has directed as follows: the immediate arrest of Prince George Buchi Nwabueze; and the immediate suspension of the following Permanent Secretaries…”
According to the ICPC, Nwabueze operates under several name variations, including George Nathan, George Nathan Nwabueze, Hon. George Buchi Nwabueze, Prince Geroge Buchi Nwabueze and George Nwabueze.
Aliyu said the commission had engaged the OSGF to obtain relevant information concerning the purported agency and its activities.
