Lagos Posts Improved 2025 Revenue Performance

The Lagos State Government has reaffirmed its commitment to prudent financial management through technology-driven reforms, fiscal discipline and transparent budgeting, announcing improved revenue performance in 2025.

Commissioner for Finance, Mr. Abayomi Oluyomi, disclosed this at a three-day workshop on Emerging Issues in Public Sector Budgeting and Budgetary Control in Lagos State” organised by the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN), Lagos State Public Service Chapter, in collaboration with D.C.S. Alaribe & Co.

Oluyomi said Lagos has strengthened public finance management through digital transformation, with most Ministries, Departments and Agencies integrated into the Lagos Revenue Portal for real-time monitoring, easier payments and improved transparency.

He attributed the improved revenue and budget performance to credible budget planning, effective expenditure controls and disciplined project implementation.

The commissioner highlighted reforms including the expansion of the e-Government Procurement platform, optimisation of the LIRS e-Tax platform and deployment of an AI-powered Revenue Chatbot, saying they have improved accountability and taxpayer confidence.

He added that over 500 chartered accountants now serve across Lagos State Ministries, Departments and Agencies, describing the development as part of efforts to strengthen financial governance.

“The quality of our institutions ultimately determines the quality of our governance outcomes,” he said.

Oluyomi commended Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu for promoting sound financial management and urged participants to use the workshop to improve transparency, accountability and professionalism in public finance.
