Vice President Kashim Shettima has called on Plateau State leaders to work together to promote unity and unlock the state’s economic potential.
Shettima made the appeal on Saturday while representing President Bola Ahmed Tinubu at the wedding reception of Nanbam Mutfwang, daughter of Governor Caleb Mutfwang, and her husband, Jeremiah Ayodele, in Jos.
Speaking at the event at Lang Field along Barkin Ladi Road, he described the marriage as a symbol of national unity, bringing together families from Northern and Southern Nigeria.
“We need to build bridges; we need to embrace one another,” Shettima said.
He urged stakeholders to set aside political, ethnic and religious differences and work to transform Plateau into an economic hub.
Governor Mutfwang thanked the Vice President for attending and appreciated President Tinubu’s support for the state. He also noted federal efforts to improve security and expressed optimism about Plateau’s future.
Dignitaries at the event included Governors Babagana Umara Zulum and Uba Sani, Chief of Defence Staff General Christopher Musa, Minister Bernard Mohammed Doro, APC National Chairman Professor Nentawe Yilwatda, former Deputy Speaker Idris Wase, and NIPSS Director-General Professor Ayo Omotayo.
