Oyo Govt Extends Curfew By 24 Hrs In 10 LGs

The Oyo State Government has extended the curfew imposed on 10 local government areas of the state by an additional 24 hours following the abduction of 39 students and seven teachers.

The extension was announced in a statement signed by the Secretary to the State Government, Professor Musibau Babatunde, and made available on Thursday through the Chief Press Secretary to Governor Seyi Makinde, Dr. Sulaimon Olanrewaju.

The curfew, which was initially declared for 48 hours in areas surrounding the Old Oyo National Park, will now remain in force until Saturday, June 27, 2026.

The affected local government areas include Oriire, Orelope, Irepo, Saki West, Saki East, Atisbo, Itesiwaju, Iseyin, Olorunsogo, and Atiba.

The move followed heightened security concerns around the Old Oyo National Park, where the abducted students and teachers are reportedly being held.

The state government said the extension is aimed at supporting security operations and creating a safer environment for ongoing efforts to rescue the victims.
