Tunisia have appointed Hervé Renard as head coach after sacking Sabri Lamouchi following a 5-1 defeat to Sweden in their opening match of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Lamouchi, appointed in January, became the tournament’s first managerial casualty. Tunisia still have Group F matches against Japan and the Netherlands remaining.
The 54-year-old managed one win in five games and oversaw heavy defeats to Belgium and Sweden.
The Tunisian Football Federation said Renard will remain in charge for the rest of the World Cup, with talks over a longer-term deal to follow.
Renard, a two-time Africa Cup of Nations winner, is best known for leading Saudi Arabia to a shock win over Argentina at the 2022 World Cup.
His first match will be against Japan on Sunday, with Tunisia currently bottom of Group F and needing a strong finish to keep their knockout-stage hopes alive.
