Mbah Splashes N150m, Lands As NPFL Champions Rangers

The Enugu State Governor, Peter Mbah, has rewarded players and management of Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) champions, Rangers International FC, with a total cash package of ₦150 million following the club’s successful title-winning campaign.

Mbah announced the reward on Tuesday during the club’s trophy parade at Okpara Square in Enugu, where thousands of supporters gathered to celebrate Rangers’ latest league triumph.

Under the reward package, the governor approved ₦100 million for the players and ₦50 million for the club’s management in recognition of their outstanding performance throughout the season.

In addition to the cash gifts, Mbah also pledged landed properties to members of the team and management, although the location of the allocation has yet to be disclosed.

The governor further assured football fans in Enugu State and the South-East region that Rangers would play their CAF Champions League home matches at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium, Enugu.

Rangers clinched the 2026 NPFL title on May 24 after defeating Ikorodu City 2-1 in a decisive encounter at the Mobolaji Johnson Stadium in Lagos. The victory secured the club’s ninth league title and their second championship in three seasons.

The achievement places Rangers level with Enyimba as the most successful clubs in the history of the Nigerian top-flight league, with both sides now boasting nine league crowns.

With attention now turning to the CAF Champions League, football stakeholders have emphasized the need for quality recruitment and sustained investment to strengthen the squad.
