Madugu Names Ajibade, Nnadozie, Oshoala In Super Falcons Squad For Senegal Friendlies
Head Coach Justine Madugu has named captain Rasheedat Ajibade, first-choice goalkeeper Chiamaka Nnadozie, and veteran striker Asisat Oshoala in a 23-player squad for the Super Falcons’ upcoming international friendly matches against Senegal.
Madugu has also recalled experienced midfielder Ngozi Okobi-Okeoghene and forwards Francisca Ordega and Gift Monday. In addition, Belarus-based forward Blessing Nkor and Turkey-based midfielder Kafayat Shittu have been handed opportunities to stake their claims for places in the national team.
Other players selected include home-based goalkeeper Anderline Mgbechi, England-based defender Rofiat Imuran, Israel-based defender Sikiratu Isah, defender Tosin Demehin, midfielders Halimatu Ayinde and Toni Payne, as well as forwards Folashade Ijamilusi and Joy Omewa.
The trio of Christy Ucheibe, Shukurat Oladipo, and Rinsola Babajide, who recently celebrated league title successes with their respective clubs, have also been included in the squad.
The Super Falcons will host Senegal in the first friendly on June 5, with the second encounter scheduled for June 8. Both matches will be played at the Remo Stars Sports Complex in Ikenne, Ogun State.
The friendlies form part of preparations for the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON), scheduled to take place in Morocco from July 25 to August 16.
Senegal have been drawn in Group A alongside Morocco, Algeria, and Kenya, while 10-time African champions Nigeria will compete in Group C with Egypt, Zambia, and debutants Malawi.
The tournament will also serve as a qualifier for the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup in Brazil. The top four teams will qualify automatically, while the fifth-placed side will advance to an intercontinental playoff for a chance to secure a World Cup ticket.
