Adewole Adebayo Emerges SDP Presidential Candidate For 2027

Prince Adewole Adebayo has emerged as the presidential candidate of the Social Democratic Party ahead of the 2027 general elections following his unanimous adoption at the party’s national convention held in Bauchi on Saturday.

Adebayo, who was the sole aspirant for the party’s presidential ticket, was elected by consensus by delegates from the 36 states of the federation during the convention.

The gathering also witnessed the election of new members of the party’s National Working Committee.

In his acceptance speech shortly after his emergence, the SDP national leader lamented the economic hardship, insecurity and poor leadership confronting Nigerians, warning that the country was drifting dangerously towards authoritarianism and political intolerance.

He decried the worsening unemployment crisis among young Nigerians, noting that many graduates were unable to secure jobs while millions of citizens lacked access to quality healthcare and decent living conditions.

“Why would Nigerians be hiding from immigration in China when I have a country of my own? Why are countries calling me a criminal when I have a country of my own?” Adebayo queried while addressing delegates at the convention.

The SDP flagbearer also criticised members of the political elite for seeking medical treatment and investing heavily overseas while ordinary Nigerians continued to suffer poor infrastructure and inadequate healthcare services at home.

Speaking further, Adebayo expressed concern over the worsening insecurity across the country, alleging collaboration between some elements within government and criminal groups.
