The Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Rt. (Hon) Mudashiru Obasa, has congratulated workers in Lagos State and across Nigeria on the occasion of May 1, International Workers’ Day, describing them as the true drivers of the state’s economic success.
Obasa, in a statement issued on Thursday by his Chief Press Secretary, Dave Agboola, acknowledged the critical role workers play in sustaining economic growth and maintaining stability across sectors in the state and the country at large.
The Speaker commended the resilience, dedication, and sacrifices of workers, noting that their efforts continue to uphold the values of hard work and productivity.
He stressed that the remarkable progress recorded in Lagos over the years would not have been possible without the unwavering commitment and contributions of its workforce.
Obasa also praised President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for recent initiatives aimed at improving workers’ welfare, including salary increases and other worker-friendly policies.
He described the measures as timely interventions that demonstrate the President’s commitment to enhancing the living standards of Nigerian workers and giving them renewed hope.
“As we mark Workers’ Day, I salute the men and women whose labour remains the backbone of our society. Your contributions are invaluable, and your sacrifices inspire us to continue building a Lagos that thrives on fairness, innovation, and opportunity for all,” Obasa said.
He further assured workers of the Assembly’s commitment to enacting laws that protect their rights, improve their welfare, and create an enabling environment for sustainable growth, while wishing them a happy Workers’ Day.
