Jandor Vows To Stay In APC Governorship Race Despite Hamzat’s Endorsement

A governorship aspirant of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the 2027 general elections, Olajide Adediran, popularly known as JANDOR, has expressed respect for the constitutional and political right of Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, to endorse any aspirant of his choice.

Adediran’s position follows the governor’s recent endorsement of the Deputy Governor, Dr. Obafemi Hamzat, ahead of the party’s governorship race.

However, the aspirant, in a statement issued by his spokesperson, Gbenga Ogunleye, noted that the party leadership has yet to formally communicate any change to its earlier position that candidates for the 2027 general elections will emerge through direct primaries.

He stressed that, as it stands, expectations remain that a direct primary process will determine the party’s gubernatorial candidate.

In view of this, Adediran affirmed that he remains firmly in the race and will continue engaging party members, stakeholders, and grassroots supporters across Lagos State in anticipation of the primaries.

The statement also clarified that Adediran’s stance does not amount to opposition to party leaders who have publicly declared support for Hamzat, noting that he respects their right to freely express their political preferences.

Adediran added that such diversity of opinion reflects a healthy democratic system and should be encouraged within the party.

He further emphasized the need to preserve party unity, strengthen internal democracy, and ensure that party processes inspire confidence among members and the electorate.
