The Special Adviser to President Bola Tinubu on Media and Public Communications, Sunday Dare, has confirmed his attendance at the opening ceremony of the Nigeria National League (NNL) Super 4.
The season-ending tournament, scheduled to hold at the Remo Stars Complex in Ikenne, will feature four Nigeria Premier Football League-bound clubs—Inter Lagos, Sporting Lagos, Doma United, and Ranchers—competing for the NNL title from May 4 to 8.
The strong representation of clubs from the South-West is expected to create an exciting week-long football spectacle, with Dare, a former Minister of Youth and Sports, among the dignitaries set to grace the opening ceremony.
Dare, who has expressed satisfaction with the rapid growth of the “Most Important League” under the leadership of George Aluo, said he is looking forward to the tournament, having attended last year’s Super 8 in Asaba, Delta State.
While confirming his attendance, Dare noted that the progress recorded by the NNL aligns with the vision of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, who is keen on leveraging sports as a driver of national development.
“The NNL is doing very well, and that is why I identify with its programmes. I also commend the NFF for the improvements in the domestic leagues.
“The transformation taking place in the NNL is equally evident in the NPFL, and this is good for our football. It also aligns with President Tinubu’s vision of using the sports sector to drive the nation’s development,” Dare said.
The NNL has recorded steady progress over the past three seasons, attracting increased interest and support from corporate organisations.
