The Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Rt (Hon) Mudashiru Obasa, on Thursday hosted the Deputy Governor, Obafemi Hamzat, at his official residence in GRA, Ikeja.
During the visit, Obasa pledged to mobilise his extensive political structure in support of Hamzat ahead of the forthcoming governorship election in the state.
Hamzat is widely regarded as the presumptive candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the Lagos governorship race, with the meeting forming part of his ongoing consultations with party stakeholders and leaders.
Speaking during the engagement, Obasa praised Hamzat’s track record, highlighting his role in infrastructure development and his loyalty to the ruling party.
He stressed that for Lagos State to sustain its growth trajectory, voters must unite behind a candidate with proven competence and commitment.
“I just returned from Abuja, and the conversation remains the same — Dr. Kadri Obafemi Hamzat is the next Governor of Lagos State. You have demonstrated unquestionable loyalty to our great party and even greater competence in serving Lagos,” Obasa said.
He added, “We love you, we support you, and we will do everything to ensure that we win the election.”
In his response, Hamzat expressed appreciation for the reception and commended Obasa’s legislative experience and political influence, noting their importance to the success of the party’s agenda. He emphasised that his consultations are focused on promoting continuity, innovation, and inclusive development, describing Lagos as a collective project that requires broad-based collaboration.
