The Lagos State Resilience Office (LASRO), in collaboration with the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Systems, has strengthened food systems preparedness in Lagos State through a comprehensive review of the Ministry’s Business Continuity Plan (BCP) aimed at mitigating potential disruptions.

The LASRO team, led by the Lagos State Chief Resilience Officer, Dr. Folayinka Dania, who was represented by Mr. Olayinka Oyekan, conducted the review with a strong focus on safeguarding the state’s food supply chain.

Discussions at the meeting, held in Alausa, highlighted the Ministry’s critical role in ensuring consistent food distribution across Lagos, as well as the importance of its departments in maintaining operations during emergencies.

The exercise provided an opportunity to refine continuity strategies, recovery procedures, and operational frameworks to better align with the Ministry’s core responsibilities and present realities. The BCP is designed to prepare the Ministry for potential disruptions while ensuring the uninterrupted delivery of essential services.

Participants also drew lessons from the COVID-19 pandemic, identifying possible future shocks and exploring proactive measures to minimise their impact on service delivery.

Speaking during the session, Oyekan reaffirmed LASRO’s commitment to building resilience across key sectors.

“Our priority is to ensure that every critical sector in Lagos State has robust continuity strategies. The Ministry of Agriculture and Food Systems plays a central role in food security, and strengthening its preparedness is essential to protecting residents against shocks and stresses,” he said.

The engagement underscores LASRO’s ongoing efforts to build resilient institutions capable of withstanding disruptions while continuing to deliver vital services to Lagos residents.
