Lagos Deploys Comprehensive Traffic Plan To Ensure Smooth Eid al-Fitr Celebration
As Muslims in Lagos and beyond prepare to celebrate Eid al-Fitr, the General Manager of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority, Olalekan Bakare-Oki, has extended warm felicitations, urging the faithful to sustain the virtues of discipline, patience, and civic responsibility cultivated during Ramadan.
In a goodwill message, Bakare-Oki commended the Muslim Ummah for their spiritual devotion, resilience, and moral uprightness throughout the fasting period.
He emphasised that these commendable qualities should extend beyond the season and be reflected in daily conduct, particularly in maintaining orderliness and respect for traffic regulations on the state’s roads.
The LASTMA General Manager reaffirmed the Authority’s firm commitment to enforcing traffic laws, stressing zero tolerance for all forms of traffic violations before, during, and after the festive period.
He advised motorists, commercial drivers, and other road users to avoid reckless driving, illegal parking, route violations, unauthorised off-loading, driving against traffic, and other unsafe practices that could endanger lives and disrupt traffic flow.
“While we celebrate this important occasion, all road users must exercise caution and strictly adhere to traffic rules. LASTMA will not tolerate any action that puts lives at risk or hinders the free flow of traffic,” he stated.
Bakare-Oki assured residents and visitors that the Authority has implemented a comprehensive traffic management plan, with personnel strategically deployed to highways, major junctions, and other high-activity areas to prevent congestion and address traffic issues promptly.
He added that officials will maintain round-the-clock monitoring in collaboration with other security and emergency agencies, while urging Lagosians to cooperate with traffic officials, remain patient, and comply with road safety rules to ensure a peaceful, safe, and congestion-free celebration.
