The Oyo State House of Assembly has confirmed Mr. Ademola Temitayo Aderinto as Commissioner designate after completing his screening process. The approval was granted on Thursday, January 22, 2026.
The confirmation followed the presentation and consideration of a report from the House Committee on Special Duties, which conducted a thorough evaluation of Aderinto’s credentials and suitability for the role.
The committee affirmed that Aderinto met all constitutional and legislative requirements for appointment into the State Executive Council. His experience and qualifications were deemed sufficient for the responsibilities of a commissioner. Following the committee’s recommendation, the Assembly adopted the report and formally approved his appointment.
Lawmakers noted that the process demonstrates the legislature’s commitment to transparency, accountability, and good governance.
Aderinto currently serves as the Senior Special Assistant on Public Works to Governor Seyi Makinde.
He previously worked as Special Assistant on Environment and Natural Resources during Makinde’s first term.
In a related development, the Assembly reviewed a report from the Joint Committee on Women Affairs and Community Development, along with Public Petitions, Justice, and Judiciary.
The report focused on improving the Oyo State Sexual and Gender-Based Violence Response Agency and Referral Centre Law of 2021.
The committee engaged with government agencies, ministries, and civil society organizations to identify institutional and legal gaps that have hindered the state’s response to sexual and gender-based violence.
Lawmakers emphasized that addressing these gaps will strengthen protection for vulnerable groups and improve access to justice for survivors. The Assembly pledged to ensure that the recommendations are implemented effectively.
