PDP State Chairmen Meet Makinde Ahead of National Convention, Back Damagum Led-NWC
State Chairmen of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on Thursday night met with the Governor of Oyo State, Engr. Seyi Makinde, at the Oyo State Government Lodge in Asokoro, Abuja, ahead of the party’s National Elective Convention scheduled to hold in Ibadan on November 15–16, 2025.
The delegation, led by their Chairman, Dr. Tony Aziegbemi, commended Governor Makinde for his steadfast commitment to promoting unity and stability within the party.
Dr. Aziegbemi described Makinde as “the anchor of stability in our great party,” lauding his “visionary leadership and dedication to inclusivity,” which he said had strengthened the PDP across the country.
He noted that the Oyo governor had played an instrumental role in steering the party through recent challenges and fostering reconciliation among members.
“In the face of adversity, Governor Makinde has stabilized our ship, ensuring that the Ibadan National Convention becomes a reality and a pathway to victory in 2027,” the PDP chairmen said.
The state chairmen also reaffirmed their support for the National Working Committee (NWC) led by Acting National Chairman, Amb. Umar Damagum, pledging to work collaboratively with all party organs to ensure the success of the upcoming convention.
They further called on PDP members and supporters nationwide to rally behind the Ibadan convention, describing it as “a defining opportunity to reposition the party and reclaim Nigeria’s democratic future from the All Progressives Congress (APC).”
