Edo Govt Commissions Renovated Staff Quarters, Reaffirms Commitment to Teacher Welfare
The Edo State Government through the Board for Technical and Vocational Education and Training (BTVE), has commissioned the newly renovated Principal and Staff Quarters at the Government Technical College, Benin City, to depict its commitment to the development of the Education sector of the state.
Speaking at the event, the Executive Chairman of BTVE, Barr. Onomen Briggs, emphasized the indispensable roles of teachers in nation building, and as such deserving of being rewarded.
She also appreciated the State Governor, Sen. Monday Okpebholo and the Education Commissioner, Dr. Paddy Iyamu, for their people-oriented leadership, describing them as leaders who truly consider their people’s welfare.
Meanwile, The Executive Secretary, Engr. Felix Okpe, represented by the Director of Capacity Building, Directorate of Content Development Board, Engr. Abayomi Bamidele, noted the synchronization of the project with the Board’s vision of boosting the welfare of lead educators in service, disclosing that four out of thirteen flats had been successfully renovated, with plans underway to visit other project sites and facilitate the completion of ongoing work.
The Principal of the College, Mr. Izedomwen Friday, appreciated the Edo State Government and the BTVE leadership for their constant investment in teachers’ welfare and infrastructure, describing the renovation as a timely intervention.
The commissioned facilities comprise four twin-flat apartments and boys’ quarters designed to provide a more conducive and comfortable environment for staff accommodation at the College.
