Ekiti 2026: Oyebanji Backs Transparent APC Primary, Urges Support For Whoever Emerges

Ekiti State Governor, Biodun Oyebanji, has expressed confidence in the All Progressives Congress (APC) to conduct a credible governorship primary that will position the party for victory in the 2026 election.

Oyebanji, who is seeking re-election, spoke in Abuja on Tuesday after appearing before the APC screening committee chaired by Hon. Tunji Olawuyi.

The governor commended the party for putting proper structures in place ahead of the October 27 primary, describing the screening process as fair and transparent.

He urged the APC national leadership to ensure a level playing field for all aspirants, stressing that whoever emerges as the party’s candidate must be supported in the collective interest of the APC and the people of Ekiti State.

“I must commend the APC for putting this structure in place. It will save the party from a lot of problems. I have absolute confidence that the party will get it right,” Oyebanji said.

“This is only the screening stage. Next comes the appeal committee, the congress committee, then the election proper. Whoever emerges must be supported, because it is not just about the aspirants — it is about returning our party to power and serving the people,” he added.
