The Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Mudashiru Obasa, has commiserated with the families of victims of the fire incident that occurred at Afriland Tower, Broad Street, Lagos Island.
In a personally signed statement, Obasa urged all stakeholders to work together to address safety concerns and provide support for those affected by the tragedy.
The Speaker praised the swift intervention of emergency services in containing the blaze, stressing the importance of safeguarding citizens and investigating the cause of the fire to avert future occurrences.
“I am deeply concerned about the fire incident that occurred at the Afriland Tower, Broad Street, Lagos Island, yesterday. My thoughts and prayers are with everyone affected, and I commend the quick response of our emergency services in managing the situation. It is crucial that we ensure the safety of our citizens and investigate the cause of this fire to prevent future occurrences.
“I urge all stakeholders to collaborate in addressing any safety concerns and to support those impacted by this incident,” Obasa stated.
It would be recalled that the fire incident claimed the lives of four staff members of the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS) as well as staff of the United Bank for Africa (UBA) Lagos Island branch located on one of the floors of the tower.
