Nnaji Rallies Enugu APC Women, Says Grassroots Mobilisation Key To 2027 Victory

Ahead of the 2027 general elections, the Enugu State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has inaugurated its Women Wing and Elders Council of Women to strengthen the party’s grassroots mobilisation.

Speaking during the inauguration held on Saturday at the Done Event Centre, Minister of Innovation, Science and Technology, Chief Uche Geoffrey Nnaji, urged the women to remain steadfast, keep faith with the APC and continue to carry the torch of progress handed to them by party leaders.

Nnaji described the future of the APC in Enugu as promising, noting that the state was the first in the country to launch the Women Wing — a move he called a clear demonstration of the party’s determination to win in 2027.

He said “The future belongs to those who dare to build it, and you, the women of Enugu APC, are already building it with courage and conviction. When women rise, families are lifted. When women lead, communities are transformed. And when women believe, nations are renewed. The APC women of Enugu have shown extraordinary courage, resilience, and unity — qualities that inspire hope for the brighter future we are building together.”

Commending President Bola Tinubu’s “Renewed Hope Agenda,” Nnaji said the administration has placed women at the centre of Nigeria’s transformation, affirming their role as builders of a stronger, fairer and more prosperous nation.

“Let this gathering renew your strength, inspire your vision and deepen your commitment to unity, justice and service. The sacrifices of today will surely become the victories of tomorrow,” he added.

Speaking in an interview on how the initiative would translate into electoral success, Nnaji explained that the Women Wing would anchor grassroots mobilisation, noting that women already dominate political participation at the local level.

“We’ve done it at the state level, and this one will transcend to the local governments and wards. If you look at every meeting in every ward today, you’ll observe that women make up 60 to 70 percent of the attendees. So, we want to empower women to take charge of their own initiatives, while men and youths do theirs. Very soon, we’re going to inaugurate the Youth Wing, which will also extend to the grassroots level. We’re doing grassroots politics — grassroots mobilisation — and that’s the way forward. We don’t want to rig elections, and our people will stand against anyone who attempts to rig elections,” he said.
