The Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service (LSFRS) on Friday swiftly contained a fire outbreak at A1 Petroleum Filling Station, 15 Mukaz Avenue, off Ikorodu Road near Agric Bus Stop, Owutu-Ikorodu.
The incident occurred around 12:58 p.m. when a 45,000-litre petroleum tanker (registration number IKD 479 XV) caught fire while discharging fuel at the station.
Firefighters from the Ikorodu and Alausa Fire Stations responded promptly, preventing the blaze from spreading beyond the tanker and one dispensing pump. The main building, mart, underground storage and gas skid were successfully protected.
No casualties were recorded.
Deputy Controller General of LSFRS, Olajide Ogabi, commended the swift coordination of the fire crews and urged oil and gas operators to adhere strictly to safety standards.
He reiterated the service’s commitment to safeguarding lives, property and the environment across Lagos State.
