Ondo Begins Water Testing To Address Waterborne Diseases 

 

In an effort to avert Waterborne diseases and provide quality drinking water, the Ondo State government has said it would carryout water testing in the three senatorial districts of the State.

This was disclosed by the Commissioner of Water Resources, Public Sanitation and Hygiene, Ayodele Akande, during a meeting with environmental health officers from Ondo Central Senatorial District of the state at the Water Corporation Board Room in Alagbaka, Akure.

Akande said the initiative was part of Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa’s commitment to providing potable water for the people of the State.

He appreciated the governor for providing water testing kits, noting that they would help monitor drinking water quality and reduce waterborne diseases in the state.

Earlier, the Administrative Secretary of the Ministry, Mrs Victoria Opeyemi Adetoye, reaffirmed the ministry’s commitment to improving hygiene and public health across the state.

She emphasized the importance of safe drinking water, urging environmental health officers to collaborate and diligently carry out their duties.

Adetoye also noted that the officers would serve as liaison officers between the ministry and local governments.

Representing the environmental health officers, Sanitarian Ayodeji Balogun from Akure South and Sanitarian Oluboyede Ayorinde from Akure North, both expressed gratitude to Governor Aiyedatiwa for the testing kits, promising total cooperation and noting the kits’ usefulness in the field.
