TASUED Vows To Strengthen Varsity Administration Through Professionalism, Mentorship, Unity
The Management of Tai Solarin University of Education (TASUED), Ijagun, has reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening University administration through professionalism, mentorship, and unity.
Delivering his keynote address at the Lecture and Induction Ceremony of the Association of Nigerian University Professional Administrators (ANUPA), TASUED Chapter, the Vice Chancellor and Grand Patron of ANUPA-TASUED, Prof. Oluwole Sikiru Banjo, welcomed participants and commended the association’s leadership for promoting excellence in the University’s administrative system.
Speaking on the event’s theme, “Strengthening University Administration through Professionalism, Mentorship, and Unity,” Prof. Banjo described it as timely and essential to the future of higher education administration. He emphasised that professionalism entails not only mastery of institutional processes but also adherence to ethical standards, competence, and continuous improvement. He added that mentorship helps bridge generational gaps in leadership, while unity fosters effective collaboration across departments.
A major highlight of the event was the induction of new members into the ANUPA-TASUED Chapter. Prof. Banjo congratulated the inductees and urged them to uphold the association’s core values, fully engage in developmental programmes, and contribute to the University’s ongoing administrative reform.
Earlier in his welcome address, the Chairman of ANUPA-TASUED, Mr. Abayomi Olusegun Obasan, highlighted the indispensable role of administrators in sustaining the academic structure of Universities. He described professionalism as the bedrock of excellence, mentorship as a growth driver, and unity as the secret to long-term success.
In his remarks, the Registrar and Secretary to the Council, Mr. Dapo Oke, urged the newly inducted members to uphold the ethical standards and professional values expected of them. He reminded them that University administrators serve as the backbone of academic success, acting as gatekeepers to processes that shape student experience, academic records, and institutional transformation.
“Your conduct, especially in interactions with students and stakeholders, must reflect integrity and selflessness—the core values of TASUED,” he charged. Oke also encouraged administrators to embrace ongoing learning and contribute innovative ideas for institutional progress. We trust you to bring new energy and insight to your roles as we collectively uphold TASUED’s reputation as a beacon of academic excellence,” he added.
Delivering the induction lecture, Dr. Gabriel Adedayo Adebayo, the former Registrar of the Federal College of Education, Osiele, and current Secretary of TASUED Consultancy, spoke on “Triangulating Professionalism, Mentorship and Harmony as Imperatives for 21st Century Administrators.” He urged administrators to develop team spirit, earn their superiors’ trust, and master the internal dynamics of their institutions.
Adebayo further advised them to adopt flexible leadership styles and remain innovative in the face of changing educational landscapes. He warned against ‘de-marketing’ their institutions and urged administrators to apply tact, emotional intelligence, and effective communication in their duties.
