Ondo Vows To Prioritize Agriculture Sector For Food Production 

 

The Ondo State government has pledged to prioritize the agriculture sector for rapid development and food production.

Commissioner for Agriculture and Forestry, Engr. Leye Akinola made the pledge while receiving briefings from departmental heads and project managers led by Permanent Secretary Mrs. Foluke Tunde-Daramola.

According to Akinola, Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa emphasized the importance of supporting the agriculture sector to boost food production, create employment opportunities, and add value to agricultural produce.

The Commissioner highlighted the state’s favourable weather conditions, suitable for diverse farming activities and abundant human resources.

He promised to provide necessary support for the sector’s growth, adopting an open and inclusive approach to achieve set goals.

Earlier, Tunde-Daramola briefed the Commissioner on the Ministry’s activities, programmes, projects, and challenges.

She expressed confidence in the Ministry’s expertise and potential to make Ondo State a food hub in the region.

Tunde-Daramola assured the Commissioner of staff support and mentioned a request for additional workforce to enhance the sector’s productivity, which has been forwarded to the appropriate authority.
