First Lady Oluremi Tinubu Inaugurates Alternative High School for Girls In Osogbo

Nigerian First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has called on girls who have dropped out of school due to early pregnancy, abuse, domestic violence, or financial difficulties to pursue their dreams and embrace new opportunities.

She made this appeal on Friday while inaugurating the Alternative High School for Girls in Osogbo, Osun State.

The school, built in collaboration with the Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC) under the Renewed Hope Initiative (RHI) Access to Education for All Programme, is designed to provide a second chance at formal education for girls and women who have faced setbacks.

Mrs Tinubu stressed the importance of education in empowering individuals and transforming lives.

“To the beneficiaries of this school, your past does not define you. This is another chance, another opportunity, and you must embrace it with determination and focus. Believe in yourself, and know there is light at the end of the tunnel,” she said.

She added, “Education is not merely a privilege but a fundamental human right. Through this facility, we are not only providing a second chance at formal education but equipping these girls with life skills to rebuild their confidence and independence. Investing in women and girls’ education is investing in the future of our nation.”
