The Lagos State Government has begun consultations across its five divisions to identify priorities for the 2027 budget and review responses to demands raised during previous engagements.
Commissioner for Economic Planning and Budget, Mr. Ope George, disclosed this at the Ikeja Division forum held at Radio Lagos, Agidingbi.
George said the consultations would allow residents to influence government priorities and promote accountability. He said Ikeja was the first of five forums planned for the budget cycle.
He added that Lagos’ budget performance averaged 80 per cent in recent years, while 2026 performance stood at 79–80 per cent. Internally Generated Revenue performance was about 80 per cent at the latest half-year assessment, while the state’s real GDP stood at approximately ₦16.2 trillion.
Permanent Secretary of the ministry, Mrs. Olayinka Ojo, said the forums provided platforms for feedback and accountability, with community submissions forwarded to relevant agencies.
Community leaders commended the initiative. Chairman of the Isolo LCDA Community Development Committee, Adesegun Olatunde, said about 70 per cent of community demands had received government attention.
