The Lagos State Government has reaffirmed its commitment to expanding access to affordable healthcare through targeted medical outreaches in major commercial communities across the State.

The Permanent Secretary, Lagos State Health District V, Dr. Oladapo Asiyanbi, stated this during a free medical outreach organised in collaboration with Market Doctors at the Electronic Area Hall, Alaba International Market, Ojo.

Asiyanbi urged traders to prioritise their health by taking advantage of the medical services provided, stressing the importance of preventive care, regular health checks and early medical intervention.

He also encouraged members of the market community to enrol in the Lagos State Health Insurance Scheme, Ilera Eko, noting that health insurance helps reduce the financial burden of accessing healthcare services.

According to him, the outreach was part of the State Government’s efforts to bring healthcare closer to residents in communities, markets and other strategic locations.

The Permanent Secretary commended Market Doctors for partnering with the State Government to improve access to quality healthcare, particularly in Alaba International Market, which accommodates a large population of traders and supports significant commercial activities.

The outreach featured health screenings, medical consultations and health education, with emphasis on healthy lifestyles, preventive care and the importance of regular medical check-ups.

Asiyanbi urged traders and other members of the market community to make their health a priority and seek timely medical attention whenever necessary.
