The Lagos State Building Control Agency (LASBCA) has called for stronger collaboration among government, professionals, property owners, developers and other stakeholders to ensure a safer and more compliant built environment in Lagos State.
The call was made at a Community Sensitisation and Stakeholders’ Engagement on the Certified Accreditors Programme (CAP) and the new Lagos State Government Insurance Policy, held at the Amuwo Odofin Local Government Secretariat.
The event, organised by Eko Akete Engineering & Construction Company Limited, aimed to sensitise stakeholders on CAP and improve understanding of building control responsibilities.
Representing LASBCA’s General Manager, Bldr. Gbaye Florence, was the Director, Badagry Division, Bldr. Kolawole Williams, alongside the Executive Chairman of Amuwo Odofin Local Government, Prince Lanre Sanusi, and other stakeholders.
Williams explained that CAP is a government initiative to strengthen building inspection, accountability and compliance by involving accredited private-sector professionals in LASBCA’s work.
He stressed that all stakeholders must play their part in ensuring buildings meet safety and regulatory standards, urging participants to understand CAP and comply with requirements.
He also highlighted the new Lagos State Government Insurance Policy and the need for stakeholders to adhere to its provisions.
Sanusi commended the initiative, noting that continuous engagement is key to improving safety and sustainable development, and urged support for compliance efforts.
Oki said the programme was designed to deepen understanding of CAP and stakeholders’ responsibilities, while also providing a platform for questions and clarification on CAP, LASBCA’s role, and the insurance policy.
