Members of the Lagos State House of Assembly on Monday congratulated His Royal Majesty, Oba Rilwan Babatunde Osuolale Akiolu, on his 23rd coronation anniversary as the Oba of Lagos.
The lawmakers during plenary session commended the monarch for his service, honour and commitment to the peace, unity and development of Lagos State.
The Speaker, Rt. Hon. Mudashiru Ajayi Obasa, praised Oba Akiolu’s long-standing service, including his distinguished career in the Nigeria Police Force, where he rose to Assistant Inspector-General before retirement.
Obasa also appreciated the monarch’s continued support for the Assembly and his role in promoting stability and development in the state, describing him as a man of honour.
Majority Leader, Hon. Noheem Adams, and Hon. Kehinde Joseph also congratulated the Oba, praying for his continued good health, wisdom and longevity, while recalling his support for Lagos during past political and financial challenges.
Other lawmakers described Oba Akiolu as a forthright traditional ruler who has served Lagos diligently.
Obasa later directed the Clerk, Mrs. Adenike Oshinowo, to formally convey the Assembly’s congratulations to the Oba.
