CAF Suspends Two Super Falcons Players Ahead Of Egypt Clash

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has suspended Nigeria’s duo of Oluwatosin Demehin and Jennifer Echegini ahead of the Super Falcons’ final Group C fixture at the ongoing Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON).

The Super Falcons bounced back from their shock opening defeat to Malawi with a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Zambia on Saturday, keeping their hopes of reaching the knockout stage alive.

Nigeria must now defeat Egypt in their final group match to stand a chance of advancing to the quarter-finals.

However, the nine-time African champions will be without Demehin and Echegini for the crucial encounter following disciplinary sanctions from CAF.

Demehin was shown a straight red card in the 40th minute of the Zambia clash for bringing down Barbra Banda as the striker raced through on goal.

Echegini, meanwhile, picked up a yellow card, her second of the tournament, triggering an automatic one-match suspension under CAF’s disciplinary regulations.
