The Lagos State Employment Trust Fund (LSETF), in partnership with Alimosho Local Government, has presented loan cheques to qualified entrepreneurs under its Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) financing programme, reaffirming its commitment to expanding access to affordable finance, promoting entrepreneurship, and driving economic growth across Lagos State.
The cheque presentation ceremony, held at the Alimosho Local Government Secretariat, brought together government officials, LSETF representatives and beneficiaries to celebrate another milestone in the Lagos State Government’s efforts to support business owners and create sustainable livelihoods.
Speaking at the event, the Chairman of Alimosho Local Government, Akinpelu Johnson, commended the Lagos State Government under the leadership of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu for its sustained investment in programmes aimed at improving the socio-economic wellbeing of residents.
Johnson also praised LSETF for extending financial support to entrepreneurs in Alimosho, noting that access to affordable finance remains a critical driver of business growth, job creation and grassroots economic development.
He urged the beneficiaries to make prudent use of the loan facilities, stressing that the intervention should be seen as an investment in their businesses rather than a grant for personal use.
“This support is an opportunity to grow your businesses, create employment, and contribute meaningfully to the development of our economy. We encourage every beneficiary to utilise the funds responsibly and ensure timely repayment so that more entrepreneurs can benefit from the programme,” he said.
In her remarks, LSETF Director of Programmes, Mrs. Oyindamola Egbeyemi, reaffirmed the Fund’s commitment to supporting entrepreneurs beyond providing finance by equipping them with the skills needed to build sustainable businesses.
She explained that all beneficiaries undergo entrepreneurship and business management training before accessing the loans, with courses covering financial literacy, bookkeeping, marketing, customer relations and business management. She also advised them to maintain financial discipline by separating personal expenses from business capital to ensure long-term sustainability.
“The funding you receive today is only one part of our support. Your discipline, commitment, and ability to manage your business effectively will determine your long-term success. Protect your capital, reinvest your profits, and allow your businesses to grow steadily,” Egbeyemi said.
She further encouraged beneficiaries to keep their contact information updated with LSETF to facilitate continued engagement and access to future intervention programmes designed to support business expansion.
The beneficiaries expressed appreciation to the Lagos State Government and LSETF, describing the intervention as timely and impactful. They said the loans would enable them to expand their businesses, acquire equipment, boost productivity and create more employment opportunities in their communities.
The event concluded with the formal presentation of loan cheques to the beneficiaries by the Chairman of Alimosho Local Government alongside officials of the Lagos State Employment Trust Fund.
